Waveney Water and Wine Experience
Hippersons Boatyard is delighted to offer a brand new, unique package to guests staying at our award winning boatyard. In partnership with award winning vineyard - Chet Valley, we have created the perfect timeout for those who love nature, water and incredible wines.
The package works best with a minimum three night stay, as the vineyard tour and wine tasting will take up one complete day of your stay, allowing you time to fully immerse yourself in the delights of the Waveney Valley. It just needs be booked 4 weeks in advance of arrival. For over 18s only. Your stay needs to include a Wednesday or a Saturday for the vineyard tour.
Your paddle-board lesson will be tailored to the ability of the group. Stephen will guide you down the river Waveney and show you the sights. He will work with the tides to support your experience, and by the end of your tour you will find your confidence brining the river to life, will have grown. The paddle-board experience is from 1pm - 3pm. If you choose the self-drive dayboat option, our team will take you through an in-water trial and help you decide the route for you to make themes of the tides. The boat is yours for the day from 9.15-4.30.
At Chet Valley uncover the story behind their artisan English wines, exploring between the rows of the vines on an exclusive vineyard tour led by Norfolk’s original winemaker, John Hemmant. Discovering every aspect of the growing and winemaking processes, this immersive vineyard experience offers endless inspiration – alongside the opportunity to taste award-winning wines in the beautiful Norfolk countryside of the Waveney valley.
Once all the tasting is complete- your group will take time relaxing over your wonderful Chet Valley Vineyard’s Lunch on the balcony overlooking the vines. Your lunch will feature locally sourced foods, including charcuterie, ham, cheese or sustainable sources fish including mackerel and smoked salmon, or humus and falafel with halloumi. All served with freshly baked bread, a delightful garden salad and a potato salad; followed by strawberries and cream. (Lunches can be amended according to your dietary needs and but please provide your requirements at the time of booking to ensure your picnic is prepared fas you wish).

A Paddle-board lesson and guided tour along the river Waveney where the instructor will bring the river to life with some tales of Beccles through the ages.
Vineyard tour and wine tasting, followed by an alfresco lunch with plenty of local flavours to compliment the wines you are savouring.

A self-drive day boat, our team will take you through an in cater trial to get you ready to bring the river to life.

Transport to the vineyard and back, although there’s a local bus that stops near to the boatyard and arrives at Thurston from which you can take a pleasant 30 minute stroll from the bus stop across the vineyards. This will set you up for the delights coming your way. (For those who prefer a taxi can be arranged by Hippersons at your own expense).
Hippersons do not provide wet suits for SUPs, but we do recommend you wear swimming costumes and light summer clothing you are happy to get wet (shorts and a t shirt).
