Update July 2021
We have watched with interest the changing Covid regulations, we have seen many of our local small businesses response and we have talked with our staff and our guests about how they would like to stay safe. The majority are happy for us to continue with the season in the way we started, so all our safe practices will remain - online booking, toilet contact points cleaned after each guest group, boats and buoyancy aids all cleaned with anti viral cleaner after each use and all our other practices. We really want to bring the river to life safely and want everyone to feel confident to do so. We hope you understand our need to do this, and trust all of our wonderful guests will continue to support us by following all our guidance. Thank you to all in advance. #escapetheeveryday @visitthebroads @suffolkcoast #staysafe #smallbusinesses

Update October 2020
Hippersons is located in an area currently rated at medium Covid alert level. If you’re visiting from a higher alert level area, please be aware that you must continue to uphold the rules stipulated by your area whilst you’re with us. For people who live in very high alert level areas, you are advised not to travel out of your area, other than for essential reasons.'
Update July 2020
We are open for both boat hire (canoes, dayboats, kayaks and the pedal boat) and also our accommodation. Extra cleaning processes are in place and the boats are only hired to one group per day. There is separate parking for the boat hire and accommodation guests, leaving the rest of the car park for our mooring customers.
For this season the toilets will be limited to people hiring dayboats or canoes & kayaks. This will again minimise contact between different social groups. Pump outs are available, and will be operated between 11 and 3, or request in advance and we will see what we can do.
Update 17th June 2020
We will be opening for dayboat hire on Saturday the 20th June, with three of our 6 person electric dayboats. The accommodation and canoe & Kayak hire will open in early July, we are waiting for government guidance.
We would ask you to please follow all guidelines with regard to the safety of you and your family, other boatyard users, and our own staff when visiting.
Many measures remain in place and we ask that you adhere to all current guidance please, including maintaining social distancing (a minimum of 2 metres), staying at home as much as possible, and keeping up regular and frequent hand washing. If you have any symptoms of coronavirus or have been in contact with anyone who has please do not visit the boatyard.
Current guidance does not allow for overnight stays on your boat. Please may we ask you to respect this.
We will be setting out dedicated car parking places for the hire (and accommodation) customers in order to maintain social distancing. These will all be clearly marked, so please leave them free, this will ensure we can manage social distancing between our guests and yourselves. There will be plenty of other parking available.
We will resume waste collection from the beginning of July, if you could continue to take your rubbish home until then it will be much appreciated.
For this season the toilets will be limited to people hiring dayboats or canoes & kayaks. This will again minimise contact between different social groups. Pump outs are available, and will be operated between 11 and 3, or request in advance and we will see what we can do.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation.
Customers bookings for 2020
We understand this will be an extremely difficult and worrying time for everyone. As a small, independent, family run business operating on a seasonal cashflow basis, with a team of incredibly loyal people to try and support through this period, we fully appreciate this.
As long as the Government restricts people travelling to us, we will defer your booking to a time in the future when you are able to visit, and will transfer any deposits paid to this new booking. We have currently deferred all bookings up till the end of June. If we need to amend this, rest assured someone will be in touch with you.
We have come to know many of our customers as friends, who love what we do, and during these unprecedented times we fully understand and deeply appreciate the support you are able to give, so that we can still be here to welcome you back later this year, or next.
If you have any queries about your booking, then please email Mary and Simon at mary@hippersons.co.uk and we will try to reply to you as soon as possible. We don’t know when the restrictions will be lifted, but will announce when we are re-opening on this website and our social media.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest updates around the yard. We wish everyone all the best at this time and look forward to seeing you all in the near future.
Stay safe,
Simon, Mary, Nate and the Hippersons team
